Job summary

Qualifications

• Strong foundation in Cybersecurity and Information Security with experience implementing secure architectures.

• Background in Application Security integrating certificates and encryption.
• Proficiency with certificate lifecycle management, HSMs, and key management best practices.
• Knowledge of standards such as NIST, FIPS, ISO 27001, and zero trust.
• Ability to create technical documentation and security procedures.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in CS or InfoSec.
• Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CCSP preferred.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills for collaborative teams.

Role Description

The Senior PKI Security Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based in Raleigh, NC. This position is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) solutions to support secure authentication, encryption, and digital signing across complex enterprise environments. Day-to-day tasks include configuring and maintaining certificate authorities, establishing key management policies, integrating PKI with applications and network security controls, and troubleshooting certificate-related issues. The role involves collaborating with security architects, network engineers, and application teams to ensure PKI services align with cybersecurity best practices and regulatory requirements. The Senior PKI Security Engineer will also develop documentation, contribute to security standards, participate in audits and risk assessments, and provide guidance on PKI strategy and improvements.

Qualifications

• Strong foundation in Cybersecurity and Information Security, with demonstrated experience implementing secure architectures and controls.
• Hands-on Security Engineering skills, including designing, deploying, and supporting PKI solutions and related cryptographic services.
• Experience with Network Security, including secure network protocols, firewalls, VPNs, and integrating PKI with network-based access controls.
• Background in Application Security, including integrating certificates and encryption into web, cloud, and enterprise applications.
• Proficiency with certificate lifecycle management tools, hardware security modules (HSMs), and key management best practices.
• Knowledge of relevant security frameworks and standards (e.g., NIST, FIPS, ISO 27001, zero trust principles).
• Ability to create clear technical documentation, architectural diagrams, and security procedures.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field; equivalent experience considered.
• Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CCSP, or specialized PKI/crypto credentials are preferred.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in collaborative, mission-focused teams.
