Job summary

Active Power Investments seeks a senior trader to own a PJM FTR/CRR book with full autonomy, advising strategy, sizing, and risk management. The role focuses on risk-adjusted PnL and cross-portfolio integration, with a flexible toolset and remote work arrangement.

The ideal candidate combines quantitative rigor with commercial instinct, able to translate market insights into durable trading performance while operating independently across long-term, annual, and monthly auction cycles.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field (finance, economics, engineering, math, or physics).
• Proven PJM FTR/CRR trading experience preferred or strong equivalent in related ISO markets.
• Programming skills in Python, R, and SQL for research and backtesting.
• Demonstrated record of risk-managed PnL generation in electricity markets.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage a PJM FTR/CRR book with autonomous ownership.
• Model transmission congestion, outage schedules, and grid topology for pricing opportunities.
• Oversee risk controls, limits, scenario testing, and PnL attribution.
• Select and maintain analytics, data, modelling, and execution tools for the book.
• Extend strategy to adjacent PJM products (virtuals, up-to-congestion, spreads) as appropriate.
• Report position, risk, and performance to firm leadership on a regular cadence.
