Job summary

Centrus Energy is actively seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to develop and upgrade piping for liquids and gases in a hands-on role within the U.S. field. You will progress from supporting senior engineers to leading projects with growing autonomy.

Responsibilities include design optimization, drafting, analysis using CFD/FEA, and safety/compliance checks, plus procurement support and on-site commissioning assistance under senior staff guidance.

Qualifications

• 2+ years hands-on experience in piping, fluid systems, or process equipment in industrial settings.
• ASME code familiarity encouraged; OSHA or safety coursework beneficial.
• Must possess or have ability to obtain and maintain a Q clearance.

Responsibilities

• Design, modification, and layout of facility piping systems with component sizing for pumps, valves, motors, heaters, blowers, and pressure vessels.
• Create, update, and redline mechanical/piping drawings, plans, and specifications.
• Perform pressure-drop, flow, and basic thermal calculations; assist with CFD/FEA analyses.
• Conduct pipe-stress and support-structure checks and participate in hazard analyses and safety reviews.
• Prepare ROMs, equipment lists, and technical evaluations to support procurement.
• Provide field support, factory acceptance tests, field inspections, and system troubleshooting under senior staff guidance.
