Job description

I. SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The Sr. Piping Designer supervises piping projects and manages budgets across all phases of the piping design scope.

II. RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assist in planning schedules and workforce requirements for projects
• Own plant layout and design
• Maintain and promote a focus on Polaris' products, including engineering, fabrication, and construction
• Ensure effective communication among engineering disciplines and manage changes efficiently
• Take responsibility for cost, schedule, quantity, and budget control for piping work
• Lead project teams of Piping Designers and Drafters
• Mentor Junior Piping Designers and Drafters, demonstrating and teaching design best practices

IV. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• At least ten years of experience in piping design for Refining, Gas Processing, or LNG projects
• Proficiency in current piping design, drafting responsibilities, and relevant software packages
• Broad technical knowledge of design concepts and systems
• Minimum of seven years of AutoCAD experience
• Over eight years of progressive experience in plant layout, piping design, modeling, and drafting as a Design Lead
• High School diploma required; College or associate degree preferred
• Availability for short-term travel
• Willingness to work overtime if necessary
• Ability to obtain and maintain TWIC and client facility entry requirements

V. REPORTING REQUIREMENTS:

Reports to the Piping Design Coordinator

VI. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
• Ability to work in facilities, including climbing ladders and stairs, and walking in warm temperatures
