Job summary

UC Irvine's Department of Surgery is seeking a Sr Physician Assistant to oversee inpatient care for surgical patients at a new Irvine hospital. You will work closely with general and specialty surgical services, participate in rounds, and coordinate consults and hand-offs with surgical teams.

The role requires California PA licensure, NCCPA certification, DEA registration, BLS/ACLS, and ATLS within six months. Two+ years of experience and strong communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Current, active and unrestricted Physician Assistant license in California.
• Active NCCPA Board Certification.
• Active National Provider Identifier (NPI) number.
• Current DEA number from the U.S. DEA.
• BLS and ACLS certification; ATLS within six months of hire.
• HIPAA training and other required safety trainings.

Responsibilities

• Manage inpatient care of surgical patients at the Irvine hospital.
• Coordinate procedures and schedule operations and follow-up care.
• Round with surgery teams; communicate with residents and attending physicians.
• Triage patient calls; review critical labs and follow-up results.
• Assist in the operating room and provide multi-disciplinary care coordination.
