Description: DMC Rehabilitation Institute of Michigan is one of the nation's largest hospitals specializing in rehabilitation medicine and research. It is renowned for its expertise in spinal cord injury, brain injury, stroke, amputee, orthopedics, and catastrophic injury care. The Institute includes the Center for Spinal Cord Injury Recovery and the Southeastern Michigan Traumatic Brain Injury System (SEMTBIS), one of 16 federally designated model systems for brain injury care and research. Additionally, RIM operates 31 outpatient sites across southeast Michigan, focusing on sports medicine and orthopedics.
Under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures, the Senior Physical Therapist provides oversight to the physical therapy team. Responsibilities include assisting department leadership in daily operations, resolving issues, coordinating staff schedules and patient care assignments, enforcing department policies, and assuming supervisory duties in the absence of leadership.
The role involves participating in staff selection and evaluation, department performance improvement activities, serving as a clinical resource, mentoring staff, providing education and orientation, overseeing therapy techniques, assisting with community programs, and contributing to department projects such as quality assurance and research. The Senior Physical Therapist also performs all duties of a Physical Therapist as needed.
