Job summary

Hack The Box is seeking a Senior PHP Engineer to join the team and help enhance HTB Business with Laravel-based development. You’ll design and implement features, build robust RESTful APIs, and collaborate with frontend developers to deliver scalable backend systems for a global cybersecurity community.

The role offers a hybrid/remote setup across Europe with relocation support to Greece, emphasizing security, learning, and innovative engineering in a fast-growing platform.

Qualifications

• Proven experience with Object Oriented Programming (OOP).
• Experience with Laravel, Symfony, Springboot or other MVC frameworks is a strong plus.
• Experience with applications providing a RESTful API.
• Deep understanding of HTTP.
• Strong knowledge of relational databases.
• Experience with unit testing frameworks such as PHPUnit.
• Good understanding of SOLID principles and design patterns.
• Analytical mind with problem-solving aptitude.
• Self-starter, able to work independently or in a team.
• Being cyber security-minded is a strong plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop new features and tools using the Laravel PHP Framework.
• Generate clean, safe, reusable and scalable PHP code.
• Create and maintain RESTful APIs.
• Contribute to architectural and software design decisions.
• Maintain technical documentation and specifications.
• Perform code reviews.
• Maintain the platform by addressing issues and defects.

The core mission of the Senior PHP engineer:

Work on one of our HTB platforms, HTB Business, responsible for upskilling organizations across the globe. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on the enhancement of the platform and the development of new features.

We are open to candidates with diverse back end programming backgrounds, as long as you have experience in an MVC framework, passion and aspiration to work with PHP programming language and the Laravel Framework.

Location & Work Mode:

• Europe/Greece

• Choose between fully remote work across Europe or relocating to our Athens Tech Hub with relocation support.

Fully Remote / Hybrid (2 days in the office, 3 days remote, plus one month of work from anywhere) - If only in Greece: When hiring in Greece, we’re open to candidates from all locations. Those based within 55 km of our Athens office will follow a hybrid work model. For candidates located beyond that radius, a fully remote arrangement is available.

Relocation

• We offer a 10% relocation bonus on the annual salary to support your move.
• In addition, you would benefit from a 50% tax reduction on your income as part of the relocation.

The fellowship you’ll be joining:

As a Back end developer you will work closely with developers, QA and Product Managers to create an amazing experience for HTB customers. You will be an integral part of HTB development team aspiring to build the world's largest hacker community. This engineering team is the biggest one , aligning with the expansive mindset of our HTB Business platform and serving a diverse set of customers globally.

• Develop new features and tools using the Laravel PHP Framework
