Job summary

Lumicity is seeking a Senior Photonics Test Systems Engineer in San Jose to lead how optical circuits are measured from first prototype through high-volume manufacturing. The role focuses on building and scaling photonic test stations, integrating instrumentation, and ensuring robust characterization pipelines.

You will own measurement strategies for MEMS-enabled optical circuit switches, work with wafer/die/module tests, and leverage Python for automation where beneficial.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience building photonic/optical test stations from scratch.
• Ability to build and debug optical measurement systems.
• Familiarity with optical instrumentation (OSA, tunable lasers, OTDR/OFDR, BERT).

Responsibilities

• Own how optical systems are measured from prototype to production.
• Develop scalable test benches to support high-volume manufacturing (HVM).

Lumicity is partnered with a growing, well-funded startup that is creating novel silicon photonic technology to address bottlenecks in AI processing.

This is a high impact position with the company, where you will own how optical systems are measured from first prototype through to HVM.

Compensation: Competitive Base + Equity

The skills needed for the role include:

• Hands-on experience building photonic / optical test stations from scratch and scaling them through to production
• Ability to build and debug optical measurement systems.
• Sound knowledge of optical instrumentation, including but not limited to; OSA, tunable lasers, OTDR/OFDR, BERT.
• Experience with wafer, die, or module-level characterization.
• Any experience automating test benches, using Python, would be advantageous.
