Job summary

RTX in San Diego is seeking a Senior Photonics Integrated Circuit Test Engineer to join our Surface Radars and Sensors Center. The role focuses on characterizing photonic and RF components and their sub-systems in support of advanced development programs.

You will develop tests for PICs, wafers, and sub-assemblies, evaluate device performance, and help select photonic components and RF electronics. The position is onsite in San Diego and requires a DoD clearance.

Qualifications

• Lab experience in optical engineering tests, optical alignment systems, fiber-waveguide coupling, and design verification testing.
• Experience in Silicon Photonics, Optoelectronics, MEMS R&D, and related photonics product development.

Responsibilities

• Develop and conduct testing for integrated photonic components, sub-systems, and systems at the die, wafer, and sub-assembly levels.
• Implement test methodologies to evaluate photonic device performance based on design specs, optical power, polarization, spectra, and environment.
• Contribute to selection of COTS/custom photonic components, RF electronics, mixed-signal electronics, and embedded/digital DSP solutions.
• Design mechanical fixtures and accessories to expand benchtop test capabilities.
• Perform architectural trade studies on systems and sub-systems related to wideband RF and hybrid electronic-photonic components.
• Support development and implementation of new hybrid electronic-photonic capabilities.
• Provide guidance, coaching, mentoring, and training to employees.
