Job summary
National Geographic in New York City is seeking a creative Photo Manager for Special Projects to shape global storytelling across editorial platforms. You will work with editors, photographers, writers, and creative teams to develop and execute compelling visual content for flagship pieces and enterprise stories.
The ideal candidate brings 7+ years in photo editing and commissioning, strong editorial instincts, and a passion for discovering new talent.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of professional experience in photo editing or visual production.
- Strong visual judgment and understanding of photojournalism.
- Experience managing photographers and contributors throughout editorial process.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute visual storytelling for special projects and editorial content.
- Commission and manage photographers and other visual contributors.
- Collaborate with editors, writers, designers, and production teams.
- Build relationships with photographers, artists, agencies and partners.
- Manage assignments from conception to publication, including research.
- Explore innovative storytelling formats across print, digital, and social.
- Represent National Geographic at industry events and portfolio reviews.
