Job summary

Ascension Saint Thomas West in Nashville is seeking a Phlebotomy Technician to perform venipuncture, process specimens, and ensure proper collection procedures. You will register patient information and support laboratory operations during night shifts.

The role requires certification and/or practical experience; this position emphasizes infection control, equipment sanitization, and training of new staff. A background in phlebotomy, BLS preferred, and a commitment to high-quality patient care

• ASCP-BOC phlebotomy credential preferred
• Phlebotomy Tech preferred

• Perform venipuncture to draw blood samples and process specimens according to clinical protocols
• Register patient information and evaluate laboratory test requests for proper collection procedures
• Train new and current phlebotomy staff
• Maintain, clean, and sanitize equipment following infection control standards
• Handle administrative duties including patient order entry, phone calls, and donor screening

What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration

• BLS Provider preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Certification specializing in Phlebotomy credentialed from the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP-BOC) preferred.
• Phlebotomy Tech preferred.

Education

• High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
