Responsibilities

• Verifies patient identity and obtains blood specimens by venipuncture or finger sticks.
• Maintains specimen integrity using aseptic technique and department procedures.
• Documents collection times and maintains tally of collections.
• Ensures quality results and reports changes as needed.
• Complies with HIPAA/PHI privacy training and security policies.
• Resolves unusual orders by coordinating with physicians and labs.
• Tracks patient reports and supports scheduling with couriers.
