Job summary

Vanderbilt Health is seeking a Phlebotomy Technician to perform phlebotomy with minimal guidance and to accession specimens for testing. You will work closely with laboratory staff, medical staff, and external customers, ensuring proper collection and transport of samples.

You will verify patient identity, maintain specimen integrity, and assist with training and safety checks. A strong focus on customer service and accurate documentation is essential.

Qualifications

• Phlebotomy and specimen handling knowledge.
• Ability to maintain aseptic technique and sample integrity.
• Adaptability to perform venipunctures and specimen processing per procedures.

Responsibilities

• Performs patient check-in and updates information in registration system.
• Instructs patients on proper specimen collection and provides necessary supplies.
• Performs venipuncture and capillary sticks with age-appropriate procedures.
• Prepares specimens for testing, including centrifuging and aliquoting.
• Maintains safety checks and assists with training of staff and students.
