Job description

We are searching for a seasoned philanthropy professional for a nationally recognized nonprofit organization. This senior fundraising position will cultivate and steward relationships with a select group of major donors and prospective supporters, with a focus on securing transformational and sustained philanthropic investment. Working as a senior individual contributor, this leader will develop strategic partnerships, deepen donor engagement, and contribute to long-term philanthropic growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Cultivate and steward a strategic portfolio of major philanthropic supporters and qualified prospects.
  • Collaborate closely with internal partners and senior leaders to align relationship strategies with broader development priorities and organizational objectives.
  • Strengthen long-term donor partnerships that support retention, increased investment, and deeper philanthropic engagement.
  • Design and implement tailored strategies across the full donor cycle, including identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
  • Generate significant philanthropic commitments, including major gifts, multi-year pledges, and planned giving opportunities, in alignment with donor interests and institutional priorities.
  • Maintain thoughtful, consistent engagement with donors through a range of personalized interactions, including face-to-face meetings, virtual conversations, telephone outreach, and written correspondences.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required; an advanced degree or CFRE certification is strongly preferred.
  • Eight or more years of progressive frontline fundraising experience, including a strong record of success in major gifts.
  • Experience cultivating planned gifts and other tax-advantaged philanthropic strategies.
  • Proven ability to close high figure gifts, including multi-year commitments.
  • Strong relationship management, communication, judgment, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to travel up to 40% to cultivate donor relationships.
Compensation and Benefits

The anticipated salary range is $125,000–$150,000, complemented by a comprehensive benefits package. Final compensation will reflect the selected candidate’s experience, qualifications, and location.
