Job summary

UChicago Medicine seeks an Advanced Pharmacy Technician to support the Outpatient Pharmacy Call Center (Mail Order) at the Burr Ridge campus. You will perform pharmacy technician duties, assist in training staff, and help ensure safe, accurate medication distribution and pharmaceutical care.

The role involves triaging communications, answering calls professionally, and contributing to operational efficiency while maintaining compliance with department policies and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent; bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Valid Illinois pharmacy technician license.
• National Certification required if licensed in Illinois >2 years.
• ACPE/ASHP accredited program or 500 hours of work experience preferred.
• Retail/outpatient/mail order/specialty experience preferred.
• Knowledge of hospital operations, regulations and record keeping.
• Computer entry skills with 35 WPM typing.
• Excellent communication, attention to detail and ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Process prescription orders and triage/escalate communication as applicable.
• Answer calls courteously; triage per policy and assist as assigned.
• Ensure safe, accurate medication care and timely delivery.
• Assist other technicians; train new staff and mentor others.
• Support pharmacy operations and distributive systems.
• Identify opportunities for efficiency and cost-effective improvements.
