Job summary

Houston Methodist is seeking a Senior Pharmacy Technician to deliver day-to-day comprehensive pharmacy services across routine and advanced functions in a hospital setting. The role includes managing controlled substances, chemotherapy compounding, unit dose dispensing, and assignments in satellite operating rooms and ICUs.

The position supports data collection, training of new staff, residents, and interns, and may perform other pharmacy technician duties as needed to ensure safe and effective

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent education (GED, homeschool equivalency, etc.)
• Two years of college preferred
• Two years of Pharmacy Technician experience applicable to the specific work setting (e.g., hospital)
• Texas Pharmacy Technician Registration or Texas Registered Pharmacist Intern required
• IV Certification - Intravenous certification (Various Issuers)

Responsibilities

• Provide day‑to‑day comprehensive pharmacy services ranging from routine to advanced functions
• Assist with data collection and training of new employees, residents, and interns
• Perform duties in medication histories, chemotherapy compounding, unit dose dispensing, and Pyxis coordination
• Support pharmacy operations in satellite OR and ICU assignments and other designated areas
