Job summary

Clark Wood, a respected independent accountancy practice in Colchester, is seeking a Personal Tax Senior to manage a portfolio of private clients and mentor junior colleagues. The role combines compliance with advisory work in a collaborative, hybrid environment.

You will work with managers, directors and partners, handle Self Assessment returns, CGT and IHT planning, and maintain strong client relationships while delivering high-quality service.

Qualifications

• ATT qualification or CTA study in progress.
• Experience in UK personal tax within a practice.
• Portfolio management of private clients.
• Strong knowledge of UK personal tax compliance.
• Excellent communication and client relations skills.
• Proactive with strong organizational and analytical abilities.
• Experience mentoring junior colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of personal tax clients with compliance deadlines.
• Prepare and review Self Assessment tax returns and computations.
• Advise on CGT, IHT and personal tax planning matters.
• Handle HMRC correspondence and complex queries.
• Identify tax planning opportunities and support advisory projects.
• Review work by junior colleagues and provide mentoring.
• Build and maintain long-term client relationships.
• Collaborate with senior team to deliver excellent service.
