Position Overview

The Senior Personal Banker plays a key role in the Branch sales and service environment by building mutually beneficial and long-term customer relationships, providing a positive customer experience, and understanding our core culture of "attraction, expansion, and retention" of customer relationships.

The Senior Personal Banker provides high-level service while greeting customers, performing needs-based assessments, opening accounts, cross-selling, tele-consulting, developing relationships, servicing accounts, and acting as lobby manager. They research and resolve complex account issues or customer inquiries, promote organizational products and services by referring customers to appropriate internal or external partners, and process customer transactions such as check cashing, withdrawals, deposits, and loan payments.

This position focuses on managing a book of business aimed at retention and relationship development. The Senior Personal Banker acts as a liaison to refer and coordinate support from lending, investment, trust specialists, treasury management, and other partners. They are self-motivated, problem solvers, can operate independently, and may serve as an operational supervisor. The role may also be eligible for Life and Health Licensing.

Key Responsibilities

Sales
  • Meet sales referrals and cross-selling goals by understanding all products and services to meet customer needs.
  • Promote bank products and resolve customer inquiries concerning accounts or services.
  • Refer customers for commercial products or services to branch or market managers or appropriate partners.
  • Exceed customer expectations through active engagement and relationship building.
  • Manage and grow a book of business through consultative needs assessments and relationship expansion.
Service
  • Identify opportunities through lobby management with current and prospective customers.
  • Assist customers with digital technologies and refer them to other lines of business.
  • Maintain cost efficiency and ensure quality customer service, sales, and brand standards.
  • Execute sales and service expectations to provide a positive customer experience.
Operations
  • Ensure operational and financial safety and compliance with policies, laws, and regulations.
  • Use lobby management to control and mitigate risk.
  • Verify customer identity and adhere to compliance procedures.
  • Assist with branch operations, including opening, closing, and supervising service in the absence of management.
  • Support complex customer inquiries and perform transactions including check cashing, deposits, withdrawals, and loan payments.
  • Complete necessary reports such as Currency Transaction Reports and Suspicious Activity Forms.
  • Assist in training staff, support contact center during high call volumes, and handle customer inquiries via phone.
  • Provide access to safe deposit boxes.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • At least 6 months of sales/service experience in a retail environment.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and handle escalated issues professionally.
  • Proficiency in math, analytical skills, and PC skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to obtain Life and Health Licenses and register as a mortgage loan originator with NMLS.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two years of retail banking sales and service experience.
  • Supervisory experience and relevant licenses for investment programs.

Working Conditions

Primarily in a retail banking branch, with potential for travel and overtime. Must be able to lift 5-25 lbs, sit/stand for prolonged periods, and adapt to different locations.
