Job summary

First Solar seeks a senior technical contributor for its Perovskite pilot line, focusing on device physics‑based root cause and failure analysis. You will support the development and scale‑up of next‑generation perovskite technology and lead mechanistic investigations linking deposition, crystallization, and post‑processing to device performance.

Qualifications

• Advanced understanding of optoelectronic device physics and correlations between physical measurements and low-level device parameters.
• Deep knowledge of Perovskite materials physics including crystallization, defects, interfaces, and degradation mechanisms.
• Proven expertise in data-driven root-cause and failure mechanism analyses.
• Strong data analysis and statistical interpretation skills.
• Physics-driven problem solving with strong mechanistic intuition.

Responsibilities

• Perform deep root cause investigations of yield loss, efficiency variability, and reliability excursions using metrology data and physics-based models.
• Lead failure analysis and excursion response, including hypothesis generation, experimental design, data interpretation, and corrective action definition.
• Develop mechanistic understanding linking perovskite deposition, crystallization, and post-processing to device performance.
• Support DOE development, parametric studies, and technology readiness assessments tied to pilot production goals.
• Mentor junior engineers and scientists in experimental rigor and data analysis.
• Collaborate with external partners, national labs, and equipment vendors.
