Job summary

Zoox seeks a seasoned leader to head perception teams, owning the roadmap and delivering multimodal perception solutions across vision, lidar, radar, and IR. You will guide a growing group of managers and engineers, aligning technical milestones with business goals and ensuring scalable, real-time performance.

You will collaborate with AI, software, simulation, and systems design groups, driving data-driven decisions while staying ahead of academic and industry trends in autonomous perception.

Qualifications

• MSc or PhD in Robotics, Computer Science or related fields.
• Experience with sensor fusion and uncertainty modeling across multiple modalities.
• Recent experience implementing vision & perception algorithms.
• Experience with AI approaches including E2E models for perception, transformers and sparse networks.
• 10+ years in computer vision, ML and related technologies.
• Strong leadership for recruiting, growing, and managing technical teams on complex real-time systems.
• Strong understanding of computer vision systems and AI software stacks.
• 5+ years of leadership experience; leading teams of 20+.
• Expertise in autonomy solutions and deploying real-world systems.
• Strong presentation and communication skills.
• Familiarity with perception of autonomous vehicles or similar robots.
• Hands-on experience deploying real products or platforms.
• Involvement in validation or evaluation of risk and safety-critical systems.
• Knowledge of GPU and/or TPU programming (CUDA, TensorRT, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Lead high-impact Perception teams with technical roadmap and milestones.
• Collaborate with AI, SW, simulation, and systems design teams to deliver perception across vision, lidar, radar, and IR.
• Guide a diverse team with expanding scope, driving impact.
• Build and lead managers and engineers; own roadmap, productivity, and execution.
• Set vision for software engineers; plan and execute complex projects with technical leadership.
• Collaborate across teams to accelerate perception capability development.
• Provide clear summaries, progress, and recommendations to executives.
• Establish best practices and data-driven decision-making.
• Stay current on AI and perception trends to keep Zoox at the cutting edge.
