Job summary

Capgemini Engineering in Utah seeks a Perception Engineer to lead the design and development of perception algorithms and sensor integration for autonomous vehicle platforms.

You will architect real-time C++ processing pipelines for detection, classification, and tracking within embedded environments, and guide junior engineers while coordinating with cross-functional teams.

The role includes deploying at customer sites and contributing to system-level validation and knowledge sharing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or a related field; Master’s preferred.
• 4–7 years of experience developing perception systems for autonomous vehicles or robotics platforms.
• Expert proficiency in C++ (C++11 or newer) with production-grade, multithreaded Linux apps.
• Experience with at least two: LiDAR, radar, image processing, or sensor fusion/tracking.
• Experience with ROS or ROS2 and DDS or publish-subscribe messaging architectures.
• Strong ML/AI techniques in embedded C++ environments.
• Proficiency in Python3 or MATLAB for prototyping/analysis.
• Advanced knowledge of linear algebra, probabilistic estimation, and coordinate transformations.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, and deployment of perception algorithms for LiDAR, radar, camera, and sensor fusion across autonomous platforms.
• Architect real-time C++ processing pipelines for object detection, classification, tracking in embedded environments.
• Define sensor selection criteria, integration standards, and validation processes for perception systems.
• Drive resolution of complex perception failures through root-cause analysis and algorithm refinement.
• Collaborate with planning, controls, and systems engineers to align outputs with autonomy architecture.
• Deploy and configure perception systems at customer sites, providing technical leadership during integration.
• Mentor Perception Engineers I and II, conduct code reviews and share guidance.
• Document architecture, design decisions, and lessons learned for team knowledge.
