Job Summary
  • We are seeking an experienced Senior PeopleSoft Technical Developer to support a higher education institution in modernizing its student planning and self-service experience within Oracle PeopleSoft Campus Solutions 9 (CS9).
  • The selected candidate will lead the technical design, development, testing, integration, and deployment of three key solutions: a Degree Planner, Student Schedule Builder, and Student Self-Service Portal. These solutions will help students plan their academic journey, select courses, build class schedules, and access essential academic information while enabling advisors to provide more effective academic guidance.
  • This role requires strong hands-on expertise in PeopleSoft Campus Solutions, PeopleTools, PeopleCode, Fluid UI development, Academic Advisement, Enrollment, and system integrations. The developer will work closely with project management, academic systems, functional teams, and IT stakeholders to deliver scalable, accessible, mobile-friendly, and upgrade-safe solutions.
Key Responsibilities
1. PeopleSoft Technical Analysis and Design
  • Assess the existing PeopleSoft Campus Solutions 9 environment, including Academic Advisement, Student Records, Enrollment, Class Schedule, Campus Community, and self-service functionality.
  • Conduct technical fit-gap analysis of delivered PeopleSoft features against business requirements.
  • Design technical architecture, data flows, integrations, security, and customization strategies.
  • Recommend configuration versus customization, prioritizing delivered functionality and upgrade-safe development practices.
  • Prepare technical specifications, development estimates, dependencies, and implementation plans.
2. Degree Planner Development
  • Develop a personalized, term-by-term degree planning solution based on program requirements, completed coursework, in-progress courses, and transfer credits.
  • Implement course sequencing logic that considers prerequisites, course availability, and full-time or part-time study plans.
  • Enable academic progress tracking, remaining requirement visibility, and projected graduation timelines.
  • Support what-if academic planning for program changes and undeclared students.
  • Develop advisor functionality for reviewing and editing plans, recording notes, recommending courses, and approving or locking plans.
  • Capture planned course demand for academic scheduling and reporting.
3. Student Schedule Builder
  • Develop a student schedule planning tool that generates multiple valid schedules based on planned courses and available class sections.
  • Implement checks for prerequisites, enrollment appointments, holds, schedule conflicts, and seat availability.
  • Support student preferences for campus, satellite locations, class times, and instructional modalities, including in-person, online, and hybrid.
  • Enable students to compare schedules, lock preferred sections, and proceed to enrollment using delivered PeopleSoft enrollment functionality.
  • Integrate the schedule builder with the degree planner to maintain consistency between academic plans and course selections.
  • Support advisor-proposed schedules and capture student responses.
  • Modernize PeopleSoft self-service pages using Fluid UI to deliver a responsive, mobile-friendly student experience.
  • Develop advisor and faculty-facing views based on institutional priorities.
  • Apply PeopleSoft security roles and configuration standards to ensure appropriate access to student information.
5. Integrations, Reporting, and Analytics
  • Develop and maintain integrations using PeopleSoft Integration Broker, REST APIs, web services, and JSON.
  • Build reports and data extracts using PS Query, BI Publisher, SQR, and related reporting tools.
  • Develop course demand reports comparing planned student demand with scheduled course seats to identify potential shortages.
  • Implement usage analytics for student and advisor activity, plans created, schedules generated, enrollment activity, and user drop-off points.
  • Support data exchange with institutional data platforms and advising systems such as EAB Navigate, where required.
  • Ensure compliance with FERPA and institutional data security standards.
6. Testing, Deployment, and Support
  • Perform unit, system, integration, regression, and performance testing.
  • Prepare technical test scripts, document results, track defects, and support user acceptance testing.
  • Ensure accessibility compliance with WCAG 2.1 Level AA.
  • Follow established source control, migration, change management, and production deployment procedures.
  • Support pilot releases, production rollout, post-launch stabilization, and defect resolution.
  • Prepare technical documentation, support runbooks, configuration inventories, and knowledge transfer materials.
  • Collaborate with internal technical teams to ensure maintainability and smooth handover.
Required Qualifications
  • 7+ years of experience in PeopleSoft technical development, including technical analysis, configuration, programming, and administration.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with PeopleTools 8.5x or higher, including:
  • PeopleSoft Application Designer
