Job description

StackAdapt is the leading technology company that empowers marketers to reach, engage, and convert audiences with precision. With 465 billion automated optimizations per second, the AI-powered StackAdapt Marketing Platform seamlessly connects brand and performance marketing to drive measurable results across the entire customer journey.

We are seeking a Senior People Business Partner to support our engineering organization. In this role, you will be a strategic partner to the business, focused on creating and executing a people strategy that supports a high-performing and complex technical culture. This is a crucial role for a self-starter who thrives in ambiguity, can balance big picture thinking while able to get into the weeds, and can proactively build solutions without needing specific direction. You will partner directly with engineering leaders (VP+) and serve as a mentor and guide to more junior members of our People team.

StackAdapt is a Remote First company, and we are open to candidates located anywhere in Canada or the United States for this position.

What you’ll be doing:
  • Serve as a Strategic Partner: Proactively engage with engineering leaders (VP+) and managers to understand business challenges, anticipate people-related issues, and build scalable solutions. Act as a trusted advisor and coach on all people matters, from organizational design to talent planning.
  • Drive Performance and Development: Lead and facilitate critical HR processes, including performance calibrations, and talent reviews. Partner with leaders to foster a culture of continuous feedback, accountability, and professional growth within the engineering teams.
  • Manage Employee Relations and Investigations: Independently investigate and resolve complex employee relations issues, providing clear guidance and support to engineering leaders and employees.
  • Champion Culture and Engagement: Assist with the design and execution of action plans based on engagement survey data.
  • Mentor and Develop: Act as a mentor for junior members of the People team, providing guidance and sharing expertise in complex business partnering, employee relations, and stakeholder management.
  • Navigate and Innovate: Thrive in an ambiguous, fast-paced environment. Use data and insights to develop dynamic solutions to novel problems, balancing the needs of the business with the well-being of our people.
What you’ll bring to the table:
  • Deep HR Expertise: 6+ years of progressive HR experience, with a minimum of 4 years as an HR Business Partner supporting a technology organization.
  • Engineering Partnership: Proven experience successfully partnering with senior software engineering leaders (Director+). You understand the unique challenges and dynamics of a technical team and can speak their language.
  • Proactive and Self-Starting: Demonstrated ability to anticipate short to medium term problems and build solutions from the ground up without extensive direction. You are a natural problem-solver who takes initiative.
  • Mentorship: Experience mentoring or coaching junior HR professionals on a variety of people-related topics.
  • Expertise in Key HR Functions: Strong experience in employee relations, performance management, engagement initiatives, and change management.
  • Ambiguity and Change: A proven ability to navigate and succeed in a complex, fast-paced, and ambiguous environment.
  • Communication: Exceptional communication and influencing skills, with the ability to build trust and credibility with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
