Job Summary and Qualifications

The Senior Pega Application Engineer is a key technical contributor responsible for the design, development, implementation, integration, and ongoing support of enterprise Care Management solutions built on the Pega Platform. This role partners with business, product, architecture, and engineering teams to translate complex business requirements into secure, scalable, reliable, and maintainable solutions aligned with enterprise technology standards and strategic objectives.

The Senior Pega Application Engineer provides technical leadership throughout the application development lifecycle, including solution design, development, code and design reviews, testing, implementation, production support, and continuous improvement. The engineer applies Pega platform capabilities, including Pega Customer Service and Constellation architecture and user experience patterns, along with software engineering best practices and sound architectural principles to deliver high-quality enterprise solutions.

The engineer collaborates across multidisciplinary teams, provides technical guidance and mentorship to other engineers, and contributes to engineering standards, reusable patterns, and continuous improvement across the development organization.

The Senior Pega Application Engineer develops a strong understanding of the existing application, integration, and data landscape, including legacy technologies and dependencies, and supports the modernization and evolution of those capabilities. The role diagnoses and resolves complex production issues and proactively identifies opportunities to improve application performance, resiliency, security, maintainability, and supportability.

Successful candidates will demonstrate strong technical judgment, ownership, collaboration, and a commitment to continuous learning. They will be comfortable operating in a large, fast-paced enterprise environment and consistently delivering high-quality solutions that support critical business and operational needs.

Analyzes high-level business and technical requirements, identifies dependencies and risks, and develops accurate technical estimates to support planning and delivery.

Promotes Agile principles, engineering best practices, and value-based decision-making across the team.

Develops a comprehensive understanding of existing application architecture, integrations, data models, dependencies, and technical constraints and proactively identifies opportunities to address technical debt and improve application capabilities.

Mentors Pega engineers and other team members through technical guidance, knowledge sharing, design discussions, and peer code reviews.

Ensures solutions meet established standards for code quality, testing, security, performance, reliability, and operational supportability.

Diagnoses and resolves complex application and production issues, performs root-cause analysis, and implements appropriate corrective and preventive solutions.
