Job summary

NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue is seeking a dedicated Peer Counselor to support health consumers in emergency, inpatient, and outpatient settings. You will work under supervision to empower peers, document progress, and participate in treatment planning as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities include leading groups, assisting with daily living activities, and advocating for clients' needs within mental health, substance use, and related services.

Qualifications

• Certification must be maintained for the assignment duration by NYPSCB/ASAP-NYCB for relevant roles.
• One year of full-time satisfactory experience with consumers of mental health or substance use services as a peer counselor or related role.
• A high school diploma or its educational equivalent is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct peer counseling services in emergency, inpatient, and outpatient settings.
• Collaborate with staff to plan and implement treatment plans and advocate for patients.
• Lead or participate in groups addressing relapse, recovery, and social skills.
• Document in the EHR and maintain accurate case records.
