Job summary

Shriners Children’s is seeking a seasoned Senior Professional Coder to provide expert ICD-10 and CPT coding for inpatient, outpatient, hospital, clinic, and ASC settings. You will guide documentation improvements, mentor junior coders, and ensure compliance with coding standards.

Ideal candidates will have 7+ years in pediatric/professional surgery coding, strong education/presentation skills, and current CCS-P or CPC credentials. Join SHC to support our leading pediatric care initiatives.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of coding experience in inpatient/outpatient professional surgery.
• Experience with Surgery Coding guidelines, E/M Coding Guidelines, CPT Coding, ICD-10, Modifiers, HCPCS and CCI edits.
• Pediatric, orthopedic and/or injury coding experience.
• Experience with education and presentations.
• Functional knowledge of Medical Terminology.
• Functional knowledge of professional coding practice standards.
• Functional knowledge of MS Office.
• Current CCS-P (AHIMA) or CPC (AAPC).

Responsibilities

• Assign and sequence ICD-10; CPT4; HCPCS and modifier codes for services rendered accurately and completely.
• Reconcile correct coding edits and discrepancies prior to final coding.
• Maintain coding quality of 95% or higher while meeting productivity requirements.
• Follow coding guidelines and legal requirements to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.
• Identify trends in documentation deficiencies and communicate improvements to leadership and/or providers.
• Act as a liaison for physicians and clinical staff regarding coding and compliance.
• Mentor Coder I and II staff.
• Provide system and workflow training to new coders.
• Prepare and present education with the Revenue Integrity Professional Coding Educator.
• Serve as primary contact for Revenue Cycle team across SHC for coding questions.
• Act as back up for Revenue Integrity Professional Coding Lead.
