Job summary

Nottingham Spirk is seeking an experienced Senior PCB Layout Designer to create detailed PCB layouts and supporting documentation, collaborating with clients and engineers using CAD tools. This remote role requires living within a 4-hour drive of Cleveland, with onsite training in Ohio.

You will work across military, medical, consumer, and industrial projects, using Altium, PADS, and Xpedition to deliver compliant manufacturing files and documentation.

Job Summary

The Senior PCB Layout Designer (PCB / CAD Designer) will play a critical role in the execution of PCB layout. The role will primarily entail close collaboration with clients, electrical engineers, and other NS team members to produce detailed layouts of printed circuit boards and supporting documentation for production using CAD (Altium, PADS, Xpedition, etc.) software.

Essential Functions

Libraries management, PCB layout, component placement review and approval

• Develops PCB layout solutions
• Leads PCB layout reviews (including high speed feedback, e.g. crosstalk analysis and best practice strategies)
• Works with cross-functional product development teams in supporting product development
• Maintains PADS libraries
• Quotes PCB layout projects based on customer requirements and engineering design team direction
• Keeps up to date on latest high speed design techniques including PCB material selection, layer construction, manufacturing guidelines, and implementing into design as applicable
• Selects and qualifies electronic components through collaboration with the engineering team
• Creates engineering documentation that allows the manufacturing of PCBAs including schematics, bills of materials, assembly drawings
• Works in a multi-disciplinary team, consisting of electrical hardware and mechanical engineers
• Participates in periodic departmental and program meetings to ensure continuity and cohesion amongst the team
• Demonstrates the ability to respect and support colleagues at all levels. Consistently contributes to a positive work environment for all associates. Mentors junior associates, as appropriate

Requirements

Mandatory

• A minimum of 10+ years of relevant career experience including PCB layout design experience with various types of high-speed, multi-layered boards
• Advanced proficiency in AD-related software (Altium, PADS, Xpedition, and others if possible)
• The ability and desire to "flex" between military, medical, consumer, and industrial product types
• Due to compliance with U.S. export control laws and regulations, candidate must be a U.S. Person, which is defined as, a U.S. citizen, a U.S. permanent resident, or have protected status in the U.S. under asylum or refugee status

Desired

• Consultancy experience with at least one prior employer
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Experience working within a multi-disciplinary team environment
• Project quoting experience

Schedule

• 100% Remote Role – The candidate must live within a 4-hour drive to Cleveland. Initial training will be onsite in Cleveland, but then 100% remote using NS supplied equipment. Candidate must be able to drive to Cleveland when needed (i.e., design reviews, planning, corporate meetings, equipment issues)
• Specific schedule will be worked out with the Director of PCB Development.

Benefits

Total compensation salary range: $84,500 - $136,500. This range includes base salary, bonus potential, and benefits. The actual salary offered depends on numerous factors including but not limited to local labor costs, the position’s qualifications in relation to candidate’s job-related knowledge, relevant employment experience, education, certifications, and skills.
