Job summary

Semtech Corporation is seeking a Senior PCB Design Engineer to join the R&D hardware design team in New Jersey. You will contribute to high‑speed board design for performance measurement of semiconductor products and interface with cross‑functional teams and suppliers.

The ideal candidate has 10–15 years of experience in high‑speed layout and electronic design, plus Cadence APD/Allegro/OrCAD skills and strong communication.

• 10–15 years of experience in high‑speed PCB design/ layout.

Responsibilities

• Hardware development: schematic capture, PCB layout, and system‑level signal integrity analysis.
• Perform SI analysis and optimization using Cadence Allegro/OrCAD.
• Manage contractors through definition, design and verification of hardware designs.
• Develop evaluation platforms with BOM and manufacturing design rules.

Senior PCB Design Engineer

Our Team:

Semtech Corporation designs innovative semiconductor solutions and intellectual property cores for the world’s most advanced consumer connectivity and data communications products. We are looking for a motivated PCB Design Engineer to join our R&D hardware design team.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will become a key member of the design engineering community of the Signal Integrity Products business unit. You will contribute by delivering innovative high-speed board design and assembly for the purpose of performance measurement of semi-conductor products.

The successful candidate must demonstrate solid knowledge in high-speed lay-out and electronic design. This role offers a tremendous opportunity for growth and development in card design as well as electrical modeling. A naturalability to interface in parallel with several cross-functional teams internally, while coordinating with several local and international suppliers is a must.

Responsibilities

• Hardware Development
• Perform schematic capture, PCB lay‑out, and system level signal integrity analysis and optimization using platforms such as Cadence Allegro/OrCAD
• Manage Contractor’s through the definition, design and verification of hardware designs
• Develop Evaluation Platforms using cutting edge bill of material, design tools and manufacturing design rules

Preferred Experience and Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s program in Engineering or Physics or another discipline relevant to this position with 10 to 15 years of experience
• Additional degrees/certifications related to high-speed electrical modeling would be a definite advantage
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently with little supervision
• Organized and highly adaptable – enjoy working in a fast‑paced environment
• Excellent communication skills (written and oral) and ability to communicate and work well with other team members.
• High degree of creativity, determination, and innovation
• RF, Analog, and digital circuit understanding
• Cadence APD and Allegro advanced knowledge
• Lab test and measurement, debugging, optimizing hardware usingsophisticated lab equipment such as VNAs and high‑speed scopes and probe stations

Additional Skills:

• Familiar with a variety of PCBA technologies, including Chip On Board, wirebond, flip chip, optical‑electronic devices and high‑speed connectors.
• High‑speed modeling tools such as HFSS
• Familiar with microcontrollers and FPGA
• Experience with troubleshooting PCBs and systems
