Job summary

The City of Lakeland is seeking a responsible Payroll Administrator to manage complex payroll operations within an automated system. Responsibilities include processing biweekly and pension payrolls, validating data, transmitting files, and ensuring regulatory compliance.

This role requires confidentiality and independent judgment in a deadline-driven environment. Must have experience with PeopleSoft/Oracle and a Bachelor’s Degree or Payroll Certification preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience with automated payroll systems and regulatory reporting.
• Bachelor’s Degree or Payroll Certification preferred.
• Knowledge of payroll taxes, deductions, and benefits administration.
• Proficiency in PeopleSoft, Oracle, and BI Publisher.

Responsibilities

• Analyzes payroll data for accuracy and compliance and prepares related entries.
• Audits and verifies data impacting payroll results and coordinates corrections.
• Processes biweekly payrolls and pension payrolls with accuracy and confidentiality.
• Transmits electronic payment and tax files and reconciles payroll transactions.
• Maintains payroll records and regulatory reports for external agencies.
• Ensures integration of payroll data with City financial systems.
