Job summary

Keeley Companies in St. Louis, MO is seeking a Senior Payroll Specialist to manage payroll operations, ensure tax compliance, and improve processes for our corporate headquarters. The role supports multi-state and multi-union payrolls and liaises with internal and external auditors.

The Senior Payroll Specialist will lead weekly certified payroll, maintain wage and fringe tables, and manage year-end reporting. Strong communication and CMIC/UKG familiarity are a plus.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of direct payroll experience.
• Construction multi-state and multi-union payroll experience.
• Strong written and oral communication in a fast-paced, diverse team.
• Knowledge of multi-state tax regulations.
• Experience with CMIC payroll.
• Familiarity with certified payroll reporting systems (LCP Tracker, PWC, IDOL).
• Knowledge of accounting concepts and procedures.
• Experience with UKG is beneficial.
• All candidates complete assessment and pre-employment drug screen.

We are looking to hire a Senior Payroll Specialist for our Corporate Headquarters in St. Louis, MO. The Senior Payroll Specialist is responsible for managing and processing payroll operations, ensuring compliance with tax regulations, and improving payroll systems and procedures.

Primary Responsibilities

• Provide guidance and assistance to other members of the team and serve as back-up support.

• Lead the processing of weekly certified payroll on all customer requested forms and standard forms as requested.

• Collective bargaining monthly reporting.

• Manages the internal and external audit requests pertaining to payroll.

• Maintains all collective bargaining agreements, wage rates, benefit rates, and employee clear-ins.

• Maintain accurate employee records.

• Maintain company level tables for local union records, home local records, and fringe and wage tables.

• Calculate and prepare layoff / termination checks.

• Review, analyze & correct ongoing employee tax & benefits for year‑end reporting

• Responsible for all reconciliations related to union fringes and deductions.

• Compile complex reports as required by management, union, and government agencies regarding employee payroll issues.

Minimum Qualifications

• Minimum of 7 years of direct payroll experience.

• Construction multi-state and multi-union payroll experience required.

• Communicate effectively both orally and through writing and work cooperatively in a fast paced, diverse team environment.

• Understanding of multi-state tax regulations

• Experience with CMIC payroll

• Knowledge of various certified payroll reporting systems (LCP Tracker, PWC, IDOL)

• Familiarity of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within accounting field.

• Experience with UKG is beneficial
