Job summary

Hasbro in Boston, MA is seeking a Senior Payroll Specialist to own our payroll operations. You will execute multi-state payroll, support system implementations (ADP, SAP, GlobalView, eTime), and drive process improvements with a SOX focus.

You will collaborate across HRIS, HR Operations, and Finance, ensuring accurate data, compliant filings, and an exceptional employee experience in a hybrid work model.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, HR, business administration, or related field.
• CPP designation with PayrollOrg highly preferred.
• 7+ years of hands-on payroll processing experience.
• Strong experience with multi-state payroll and complex tax scenarios.
• Proficiency with ADP or SAP payroll systems highly preferred.
• Experience supporting payroll system conversions or HCM implementations.
• Experience supporting SOX, financial, and compliance audits, as well as 401(k) plans.
• Strong preference for experience at a publicly traded company.
• Proficiency with MS Office; strong Excel skills for auditable data.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience automating processes via RPA and related technologies.

Responsibilities

• Execute multi-state payroll processing and reporting, including registrations and accounts.
• Maintain payroll system accuracy for earnings codes, deductions, tax configurations, and pay rules.
• Process and validate payroll results with balanced gross-to-net calculations and audits.
• Review master data, time and attendance, and variable pay inputs for correctness.
• Reconcile payroll results and support general ledger accuracy.
• Assist payroll close, tax filings, and year-end reporting.
• Manage payroll inquiries with clear communications and resolution.
• Collaborate with HRIS, HR Operations, and Finance to ensure data accuracy.
• Serve as SME for system functionality, upgrades, and process enhancements.
• Develop and implement SOPs to ensure internal controls compliance.
• Lead payroll audits and SOX-related testing.

Reporting to the Director, Global Payroll, the Senior Payroll Specialist is responsible for executing accurate and compliant payrolls across multiple jurisdictions. The role requires strong analytical skills, technical understanding of payroll systems (ADP, SAP), and a focus on continuous improvement. This position ensures payroll accuracy, compliance with regulations, and seamless employee experience, supporting Hasbro’s global payroll transformation objectives. The role acts as a bridge between operations and management, collaborating closely with payroll team members and driving continuous process improvement.

This role will co-manage 5 pay groups (2 biweekly hourly, 2 biweekly salary, and 1 monthly) in ADP Vantage, & eTime, while supporting the implementation of ADP GlobalView and Workforce Manager. This is a high-visibility role where you will bring your expertise in payroll, tax, and compliance and help shape more automated, technology-supported payroll processes as part of Hasbro’s global payroll transformation.

Location and Work Arrangement

This role is based at our Boston, Massachusetts office and follows a hybrid schedule designed to support in-person collaboration. Employees are expected to work onsite on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, with the flexibility to work remotely or onsite on Mondays and Fridays.

What You'll Do

• Manage multi-state processing and reporting, including state tax registrations, withholding accounts, and unemployment accounts.
• Maintain payroll system accuracy, including earnings codes, deductions, tax configurations, and pay rules.
• Process and validate payroll results, balancing gross-to-net calculations, reconciliations, and audit trails.
• Review and analyze employee master data, time and attendance, and variable pay inputs for correctness.
• Reconcile payroll results, support general ledger accuracy, and identify discrepancies.
• Support payroll close, tax filings, and year-end reporting.
• Manage payroll inquiries through effective communication and resolution.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS), HR Operations, and Finance to maintain data accuracy.
• Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for system functionality, upgrades, and cross-functional process enhancements.
• Develop, maintain, and implement policies and standard operating procedures to ensure compliance with internal controls.
• Lead payroll audits and internal control testing, ensuring compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) requirements.

What You'll Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, human resources, business administration, or a related field, or equivalent demonstrated experience.
• Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation with PayrollOrg highly preferred.
• 7+ years of hands-on payroll processing experience.
• Strong experience with multi-state payroll and complex tax scenarios.
• Proficiency with ADP or SAP payroll systems highly preferred.
• Experience supporting payroll system conversions or Human Capital Management (HCM) implementations.
• Experience supporting SOX, financial, and compliance audits, as well as 401(k) plans.
• Strong preference for experience at a publicly traded company.
• Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite (e.g., Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint); strong Excel skills required, with the ability to produce clear, auditable data.
• Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Demonstrated success in assessing, redesigning, and automating manual processes using Robotic Process Automation (RPA), bots, and other process-improvement technologies to achieve greater efficiency and accuracy.
