Job summary

MPI is seeking a Payroll Director to lead end-to-end payroll operations, including semi-monthly and off-cycle processing for our New York team. The role requires strong expertise in Workday and up-to-date knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll laws, with a focus on accuracy and timely delivery.

The successful candidate will oversee reporting, audits, and system improvements, while guiding the payroll team on inquiries and regulatory changes.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of payroll experience, including Workday.
• Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
• Proven background in managing ad-hoc and off-cycle payroll processing.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
• Ability to work onsite in Manhattan 4 days per week.

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end payroll semi-monthly & off-cycle processing for the company, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
• Confirm tax, garnishment, and benefit deduction accuracy.
• Oversee payroll reporting and reconciliation processes.
• Handle payroll audits and resolve discrepancies efficiently.
• Implement improvements to payroll systems and processes as needed.
• Provide guidance and support to team members regarding payroll inquiries.
• Stay updated on payroll laws and adapt processes accordingly.
