In this position you will be responsible for managing all payroll and employee benefit programs. From strategic business decision making regarding payroll and benefit initiatives, to supporting and guiding day-to-day processes, this opportunity provides a wide scope. With supporting the Payroll & Benefits team, you will be required to have a clear understanding of daily processes, regulatory guidelines and laws, and be able to troubleshoot, problem-solve, and provide guidance when roadblocks present themselves. You will simultaneously be working on very detailed, accounting-related reporting and processes, while functioning in a customer-focused role.

It is paramount that you have the desire to understand how things work, as opposed to merely going through the motions of a task. We are seeking an individual who loves all things numbers, working in excel, and doesn’t shy away from problem solving. An inquisitive person who seeks to understand how and why things work will find great success in this role.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead, mentor, and provide support to other Payroll & Benefit Specialist team members.

  • Oversee the timely, accurate preparation and processing of weekly payroll for approximately 750 hourly and salaried employees, including weekly incentive bonus plans for multiple manufacturing departments.

  • Provide labor analysis and quality data reporting to leadership team.

  • Work closely with management to assess labor trends, adjustments, and incentive plans.

  • Understand all benefit offerings, both in use and the administration of plans.

  • Manage and support all employee benefit enrollment periods – new hires, annual open enrollment, and qualifying life events.

  • Work closely with brokers, providers, and internal management regarding employee benefit plan selection.

  • Monitor, assess, and analyze benefit plan data and utilization rates to determine overall performance.

  • Prepare monthly financial reports related to employee benefit plans.

  • Responsible for month-end and year-end audits and reconciliations pertaining to employee benefits, payroll, W2s, and more.

  • Duties also include supporting daily operations of the human resources department, including reporting, HR database management, and special projects. This position has direct hands-on exposure to all aspects of human resources.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Human Resources, or related field is preferred.

  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to be very organized and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

  • The ability to self-manage and prioritize.

  • Must be able to maintain confidential information.

  • Strong computer skills, with a high competency with spreadsheet management and design (Microsoft Excel).

  • Experience with Paylocity or other Human Resources Information System is preferred, but not required.

  • A customer focused attitude and the ability to work with a sense of urgency.

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential to this position.

  • Analytical mindset and logical thinker when problem solving.

  • Finds fulfillment in identifying problems, brainstorming solutions, and taking action.

We are seeking a person who is energetic, passionate, and motivated. Someone who takes direction and can also work very independently, taking ownership of tasks and deadlines. A successful candidate must have a desire to work with numbers and the aptitude to self-audit numerical data, while being meticulous about the details. You must also be passionate about providing exceptional customer service in all interactions.
