• 5-8+ years of progressive payroll experience.
• Experience with acquisitions and payroll integrations.
• Experience administering union payroll.
• Workday Payroll experience required or strongly preferred.
• Multi-state payroll experience.
• Advanced knowledge of payroll regulations and wage-hour laws.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Support end-to-end payroll processing activities as needed, ensuring timely and accurate payroll execution.
• Review and audit payroll inputs, calculations, and outputs for compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
• Research and resolve complex payroll issues related to earnings, taxes, deductions, garnishments, and timekeeping.
• Serve as an escalation point for payroll inquiries from employees, managers, and HR partners.
• Assist with quarter-end and year-end payroll activities, including tax reconciliations and reporting.
• Support payroll-related due diligence activities for M&A, including migration and integration of acquired employee populations into Workday payroll and related systems.
• Evaluate payroll practices, earnings, deductions, and tax configurations during acquisition onboarding.
• Partner with Labor Relations and HR teams to support collective bargaining agreement implementations and updates.
• Prepare, review and submit union remittance payments accurately and timely.
• Perform monthly reconciliation of union-related payroll deductions, employer contributions, and remittance payments to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Research and resolve remittance discrepancies, contribution variances, and union payroll exceptions.
• Monitor compliance with collective bargaining agreements and applicable regulatory requirements, identifying opportunities to improve payroll accuracy, controls and efficiency.
• Analyze payroll data, trends, and metrics to identify risks, opportunities, and operational improvements.
• Ensure compliance with wage and hour regulations, payroll tax requirements, and company policies.
• Support internal and external audits and implement corrective actions when necessary.
• Support automation initiatives and continuous improvement opportunities.
