Community Health Network in Kokomo seeks a Sr. Patient Care Tech Student Extern to provide essential patient care under registered nurse supervision. This role involves direct patient care such as bathing, feeding, and vital sign monitoring, along with necessary documentation.
Applicants must have a high school diploma, be accepted into an accredited nursing program, and have completed their first semester. Strong communication skills and the ability to handle sensitive situations are vital, as well as a dedication to patient support in a collaborative setting.
Training for one week is required prior to starting.

The Sr. Patient Care Tech Student Extern works under the direction of a registered nurse. Performs direct and indirect patient care. Direct patient care can include bathing, assisting with elimination, and assisting patients with feeding, bed making, safety observation, blood glucose checks, vital signs, urinary catheter insertion/care, dressing changes, and phlebotomy. Indirect patient care can include documentation; assist to reinforce patient/family education, stocking supplies, and orienting patients and staff to the unit. Collaborates with other team members to perform other services as directed.
