Job summary

UPMC Hanover in Hanover, PA is seeking qualified Pathologists' Assistants at Sr. or standard level, based on experience. The role processes surgical pathology specimens in the laboratory, with daytime hours and no on-call duties. Compensation includes hourly pay ranges and potential bonuses for both PA levels.

The Sr. Pathologists' Assistant offers up to $20,000 bonus; standard Pathologists' Assistant up to $8,000, with shifts at UPMC Memorial in York for vacation coverage.

Qualifications

• Completion of 4 year degree in Biological Sciences or Medical Technology or meets AAPA requirements for college credits.
• Analytical and technical ability to independently evaluate patient data and specimens.
• Exposure to biohazards and laboratory environment considerations.
• Licensure, certifications, and clearances such as Act 34.

Responsibilities

• Examine and prepare surgical pathology cases with gross description and sections.
• Perform frozen sections / intraoperative consults and maintain records.
• Adhere to safety standards and universal precaution procedures.
• Assist with quality assurance and stay updated on pathology policies.
• Orient new technicians and train staff as needed.
• Maintain service and maintenance of laboratory tools and equipment.
