Job summary

Finnegan, Henderson, Farabow, Garrett & Dunner, LLP seeks a Senior Patent Paralegal to manage US and international patent filings, deadlines, and related correspondence. The role requires extensive patent prosecution experience and strong client communication.

Hybrid/onsite work is available with manager-approved scheduling options. The ideal candidate has a track record in preparing USPTO filings, reviewing office actions, and coordinating with foreign counsel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and minimum ten years of patent prosecution experience in a professional services environment; OR in lieu of a degree, ten years of patent prosecution experience in a law firm environment.
• Must have been at the firm for at least 2 years; senior hire may vary by experience.
• Demonstrated expert knowledge of international and USPTO patent rules and procedures.
• Strong experience with Electronic Filing USPTO or international procedures.
• Ability to prepare and file new U.S. and national stage applications, PCT applications, and other responses.
• Superior interpersonal, oral and written communication skills; professional conduct.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates US and international patent filings with attorney input as needed.
• Monitors docket deadlines and assists with client instructions.
• Prepares materials for attorneys and communicates options clearly.
• Maintains compliance with client procedures and firm standards.
• Reviews USPTO and foreign office papers and bills; coordinates responses.
• Prepares and instructs foreign counsel for national stage filings; handles issues.
• Mentors other patent paralegals and supports training.
• Opens new matters; processes invoices and time entries; ensures data accuracy.
