Job summary

Sardis Baptist Church – McDonough, GA

Senior Pastor Position Opening

Sardis Baptist Church (McDonough, GA) is prayerfully seeking a full-time Senior Pastor to lead our congregation through a season of revitalization, spiritual growth, and equipping to more effectively reach our community with the Gospel. Current active worship attendance is 40.

Our next pastor should, within a reasonable period, be able to assess our community, develop a proactive strategy, communicate vision, and lead the church forward by aligning ministry with the mission. (Matthew 28:18-20; Acts 1:8) We are looking for a Biblical leader who not only meets the Scriptural qualifications of a pastor/overseer/elder, but has a demonstrated track record of Gospel and missional engagement personally and through the church.

The ideal candidate will be a spiritually mature leader who can connect with and engage a multi-generational congregation. A demonstrated commitment to learning and ministry competency through theological education is desired (with preference to Baptist institutions). He should be able to demonstrate strong communication skills, both in preaching and interpersonal relationships. This next season will also require skills in strategic planning, leadership development, and discipleship with a demonstrated pattern of community engagement and Gospel outreach. We prefer a pastor with at least 3 years of relevant ministry leadership.

Sardis Baptist Church, founded 203 years ago, has a rich community heritage. But our once strictly rural community is now filled with homes, schools, and people who need to be reached with the Gospel, and who need a church who will send them to the nations. While honoring tradition cannot be ignored, we must embrace new opportunities for community impact both inside and outside of the church.

Our church is currently in a stable financial position with no debt and available pastoral housing. We will seek to pray, provide, and care well for our pastor and his family. We believe this is a ministry opportunity with incredible Kingdom potential.
