The City of Galveston is seeking a Parks Maintenance Worker to perform grounds keeping, repairs, and facility upkeep at Seawolf Park and other city parks. Under general supervision, you will operate light equipment, perform electrical and plumbing tasks, and support park safety and guest services.
The role requires a high school diploma and at least two years in parks maintenance; a Texas driver's license is required.

Under general supervision, performs various maintenance and repair activities of the City’s parks and recreation center facilities. This Position is distinguished from the Parks Maintenance Worker designation by greater work independence and a broader range of work activities performed. While the Position is generally specific to Seawolf Park, job duties may include performing park maintenance at any City Park as needed.
Knowledge:
Skill in:
High School diploma or equivalent; AND two years’ experience in parks facilities maintenance and repair operations; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Work is performed both in an indoor and outdoor work environment. May be exposed to dangerous machinery, extreme weather conditions, potential physical harm and hazardous chemicals. May be required to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds. May be required to climb stairs, walk up/down a ramp, or climb a ladder or scaffolding, and work from heights. May require squatting, crouching, reaching, bending, twisting at the waist, sitting, standing, and operating an automatic full-size vehicle, ATV, basic cleaning tools, hand tools, power tools, heavy machinery, phone, and computer.
