Job summary

Montgomery Parks’ Northern Parks Division is seeking a Principal Parks/Facilities Maintenance Worker at Black Hill Regional Park in Boyds, MD. This full‑time role involves hands‑on maintenance of park grounds, facilities, and athletic fields, with supervision of crew members and operation of trucks and heavy equipment.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED and at least four years of progressive groundskeeping experience, with CDL and applicator certifications preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Four years of progressive groundskeeping/park maintenance experience.
• Some positions may require CDL within 12 months of hire.
• Certifications: pesticide and fertilizer applicators where applicable.
• NPSI certification or equivalent is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate trucks and equipment (tractors, mowers, backhoes).
• Maintain park grounds, facilities, and athletic fields.
• Repair playgrounds and park structures; perform carpentry and basic maintenance.
• Conduct trail and tree work; support general park operations.
• Provide guidance and safety instruction to crew members.
