Job summary

County of Davidson is seeking a Senior Park Manager to oversee daily operations of parks and facilities in Royal Park, NC. You will supervise staff, coordinate maintenance, manage rentals and events, and ensure safety and cleanliness of park amenities. The role reports to the Parks and Recreation Director and involves heavy public interaction. Valid NC driver's license and pesticide/cprp recommendations preferred.

• Maintains the cleanliness of park: empties trash cans; picks up litter, and inspects park to help ensure safe and proper conduct of patrons
• Balances cash drawers, checks shelters, ensures all visitors are out of the park
• Provides customer service to park patrons; responds to inquiries via face to face, telephone or email
• Makes recommendations for policies as it relates to operation of park in short and long terms
• Coordinates with the stakeholders in the usage of park on a daily basis
• Maintains confidential employee records
• Maintains order parts and maintenance supplies; prepares and submits various reports

Job Description SENIOR PARK MANAGER

General Statement of Duties Performs responsible work managing the daily operation of parks and facilities and provides oversight over the work of other employees.

Distinguishing Features of the Class

An employee in this class is responsible for supervising the maintenance of parks ensuring that they are well maintained, clean, and that equipment is in good working condition and regularly inspected and serviced.

The employee opens parks, unlocks the facilities, sets up cash registers (as needed), runs daily reports, gets bank deposits ready and provides customer service. Work includes supervising the maintenance, design, and repairs of park and ensuring that the park is well maintained and clean.

The employee also responds to citizen inquiries and complaints, requests for information, and work performed. This position involves heavy contact with the general public; therefore tact, firmness and courtesy are required. Work is performed under regular supervision of the Parks and Recreation Director and is evaluated through daily communication, visual inspection, and compliance with established policies.

This classification is considered exempt in compliance with the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

• General knowledge of the principles and practices of parks and grounds maintenance, and program development
• General knowledge of pertinent Federal, State and local rules, regulations, ordinances, and other regulatory standards applicable to the work
• General knowledge of methods, materials, practices, equipment and tools used in park maintenance work
• General knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions
• General knowledge of principles and practices of supervision, and discipline
• General working knowledge of turf chemicals and cleaning chemicals
• General knowledge of pool chemicals
• Ability to work safely in accordance with County safety policy and procedures and specific departmental safety procedures
• Ability to plan, organize, and direct the work of employees

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

• Work in this class is described as medium and frequently requires physical exertion to move objects and complete tasks.
• Work typically involves the ability to physically perform the basic life operational functions of climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing and repetitive motions.
• Work necessitates visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of work assigned in preparing and analyzing figures, accounting, transcription, using measuring devices, and computer terminal viewing.
• The Employee is subject to hazards including a variety of physical conditions such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical current, chemicals, oils, noise, extreme weather conditions and vibration.
• The employee is in contact with potentially infectious body fluids during the performance of his/her duties.
• Working conditions include both inside and outside environmental conditions.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Leisure Studies and Recreation or related field, and 3 years of experience in a lead capacity in public parks and facilities work or 5 years of experience in public parks with at least 3 in a lead capacity.
