Job summary

City of Lubbock is seeking a grounds maintenance worker to keep City parks and recreational areas clean and well-kept. Responsibilities include concrete work, road repairs, and operating city vehicles and boats as needed.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent with some maintenance experience, a valid Texas driver’s license, and a required physical exam. Ability to perform plumbing, carpentry, and gardening tasks is important.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with an additional year of grounds keeping or maintenance experience; or any combination of education and experience meeting requirements.
• Valid TX Driver's License is required.
• Physical Exam required.

Responsibilities

• Keep grounds of City parks and recreational areas clean and maintained.
• Construct forms, pour, and finish concrete for sidewalks, walls, and curbs.
• Repair roadways with gravel or asphalt.
• Safely drive and maintain City trucks, tractors, mowers, and trailers; operate work boats to repair/install lake buoys when needed.
• Install and maintain waterlines; basic plumbing and carpentry tasks; operate related power tools.
• Mow and edge grass; clean park grounds, restrooms, boat dock, and hiking trails; maintain park areas.
