Job summary

The City of Houston is seeking a skilled senior paralegal for its Contracts section within the Office of the City Attorney. Reporting location is 900 Bagby, with Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM schedule.

The role emphasizes drafting ordinances and contracts for attorneys’ use, file maintenance, and client department coordination. Minimum requirements include a high school diploma or GED with a paralegal certificate (an Associate degree may substitute).

Qualifications

• Five years of paralegal experience required.
• Familiarity with municipal or public law preferred.
• Proficiency with Office 365: Word, Outlook, Excel, Teams, OneDrive Business and related tools.

Responsibilities

• Drafting various legal documents, including ordinances and contracts for review, approval, and use by attorneys.
• Maintaining physical and electronic files.
• Regularly communicating with client departments to provide status updates and request additional information.
• Performing basic legal research.
