Job summary

Cedar Tree Native Law in the United States is seeking a Senior Paralegal with significant court experience to support attorneys in complex litigation across federal, state, and tribal courts, plus transactional matters for tribal governments and tribal enterprises. The ideal candidate is highly organized, experienced with electronic court filing systems, and able to manage fast-moving litigation with precision and attention to detail.

Hybrid in-office preference for Omaha, NE or Minneapolis/St.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 7 years of paralegal experience, including at least 3 years in federal litigation.
  • Strong knowledge of federal court procedures, CM/ECF filings, and state court systems.
  • Proficiency with Westlaw, PACER, Adobe Pro, and case management software.
  • Proficiency with Monday.com or other project management software preferred.
  • Commitment to serving Native communities and supporting tribal self-governance.

Responsibilities

  • Draft, format, proofread, and file legal pleadings, motions, and discovery in Federal, State, and Tribal Courts.
  • Maintain litigation calendars and ensure timely filings and court appearances.
  • Attorney support with calendar management and billing, including coordinating meetings and drafting time entries.
  • Coordinate with court clerks, clients, and opposing counsel.
  • Organize and maintain electronic and physical case files.
  • Prepare discovery responses and assemble exhibits for hearings, depositions, and trials.
  • Discovery management to oversee timelines and compliance with procedural rules.
  • Review documents for production and summarize depositions and testimony for attorney review.
  • Provide trial support with binders, witness files, and exhibit lists.
  • Conduct legal and factual research and draft case summaries.
  • Assist with contract drafting, review, and management.
  • Track regulatory deadlines and support compliance filings.
  • Lead training for paralegals and staff on tools, e-filing, and technology.
  • Represent the firm’s mission and values in client and court interactions.

Position Summary

We are seeking a Senior Paralegal with significant court experience to join our team. This position supports attorneys in complex litigation in federal, state, and tribal courts, as well as various transactions and matters for tribal governments and tribal enterprises. The ideal candidate is highly organized, experienced in electronic court filing systems, comfortable managing fast-moving litigation and legal work, and capable of supporting projects with precision and attention to detail.

Responsibilities
  • Draft, format, proofread, and file legal pleadings, motions, and discovery in Federal, State, and Tribal Courts
  • Maintain litigation calendars and ensure timely filings and court appearances
  • Attorney support with calendar management and billing, including coordinating and scheduling meetings, resolving conflicts, and drafting billing time entries
  • Coordinate with court clerks, clients, and opposing counsel
  • Organize and maintain electronic and physical case files
  • Prepare discovery responses and assemble exhibits for hearings, depositions, and trials
  • Discovery management to include coordinating and overseeing the discovery process and managing discovery timelines, deadlines, and compliance with procedural rules
  • Discovery processing to include reviewing and organizing documents for production; utilizing e-discovery tools and legal research databases to locate and organize relevant materials; and summarizing interviews, depositions, interrogatories, and testimony for attorney review
  • Provide trial support, including preparation of binders, witness files, and exhibit lists
  • Conduct legal and factual research and draft case summaries
  • Conduct due diligence and maintain client records
  • Assist with contract drafting, review, and management
  • Track regulatory deadlines and support compliance filings
  • Lead training for paralegals and other staff on technical tools, systems, e-filing, and technology-related processes
  • Represent the firm’s mission and values in client and court interactions
Qualifications
  • Minimum 7 years of paralegal experience, including at least 3 years in federal litigation
  • Required strong knowledge of federal court procedures, including CM / ECF filings, and state court systems such Odyssey, eFile, and eServe
  • Familiarity with Tribal Courts is preferred but not required
  • Proficiency with legal technology: Westlaw, PACER, Adobe Pro, and case management software
  • Proficiency with Monday.com or other project management software preferred
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong writing and communication skills
  • Commitment to serving Native communities and supporting tribal self-governance
