Job summary

Plains is seeking an experienced paralegal to support attorneys with drafting, reviewing, and editing contracts and business communications. The role includes factual research, project management for legal cases, and organizing legal files using electronic systems.

The candidate should have a bachelor’s degree or ABA-accredited paralegal certificate and at least 7 years of paralegal experience, with strong MS Office and communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree (preferred) and/or ABA-accredited Paralegal certificate.
  • Minimum 7 years of paralegal or legal assistant experience.
  • Proven problem-solving and paraprofessional generalist skills.

Responsibilities

  • Draft, review, and edit legal documents and agreements.
  • Conduct factual research and coordinate with departments for transactions or litigation.
  • Manage legal cases, projects, and regulatory matters.
  • Organize electronic files and use document management systems.
  • Prepare legal forms/templates/presentations.
  • Support International Trade Compliance Program.
  • Compile periodic litigation reports and meeting materials.
  • Assist with department budget and legal fees processing.
  • Demonstrate initiative and work independently with limited supervision.

Job Responsibilities
  • Support attorneys in drafting, reviewing, and editing legal documents (contracts, agreements, business communications)
  • Conduct factual research (exercise judgment and communicate with other departments to gather information and documents that may be relevant to a transaction or controversy, or that may be required to respond to litigation and regulatory investigations, monitor third‑party lawsuits and regulatory matters as may be requested, respond to queries and investigations, prepare summary reports)
  • Project management for legal cases, litigation, transactions
  • Legal file organization and management, including use of electronic systems to input, store, retrieve, and report relevant information
  • Prepare legal forms/templates/PowerPoint presentations
  • Provide support for International Trade Compliance Program
  • Compile periodic litigation reports
  • Compile binders, and other physical files and meeting materials upon request
  • Assisting with departmental budget process and processing of legal fees
  • Consistently demonstrate sound judgment to evaluate needs, take initiative, and work independently, while recognizing when it is appropriate to escape an issue or to seek input from an attorney or business representative
Knowledge, Skills, And Experience Required
  • Bachelor’s Degree (preferred) and/or Paralegal certificate from an ABA accredited school
  • Minimum 7 years of Paralegal Experience or legal assistant
  • Broad paraprofessional generalist skill set, has demonstrated excellent problem‑solving skills
  • Advanced skills in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook); exposure to Visio
  • Experience with a document management system
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Must be able to handle multiple time‑sensitive matters and prioritize needs
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work constructively and effectively in a group or team setting
  • Ability to take initiative and ownership of projects and see through to completion with limited supervision #Plains
