Job summary

International Paper seeks a hands-on Superintendent – Finished Products in Bogalusa, LA to lead two paper machines and the outbound shipping team, guiding salaried and hourly staff toward safe, reliable operations and measurable improvements.

Bachelor’s degree or 10+ years’ supervisory papermaking experience required; strong Lean/Six Sigma, communication, and financial acumen are essential for driving continuous improvement and cost control in a world-class mill.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or 10+ years of supervisory papermaking experience.
• Significant experience with paper machine operations.
• Broad understanding of mill-wide operations and interdependencies.
• Working knowledge of Quality Management System and Environmental Management System.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to engage at all levels.
• Ability to define clear objectives and involve others.
• Experience driving operational excellence through Lean/Six Sigma or similar.
• Commitment to continuous improvement across safety, quality, environment, production, and cost.

Responsibilities

• Lead initiatives in production efficiency, cost optimization, safety, reliability, team engagement, and environmental performance.
• Champion a proactive safety culture by modeling safe work practices.
• Review daily production and quality results; partner with Paper Machine and Shipping teams to resolve issues.
• Ensure consistent use of MWS, TCC, and centerlining systems.
• Conduct frequent inspections and audits of equipment and processes.
• Prioritize planned outages and allocate resources effectively.
• Manage performance and development of salaried and hourly staff through coaching.
• Collaborate with APMs and FLLs to set quarterly goals on safety, environment, quality, and cost.
