Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Senior Paleontologist to lead a large multi-location team from Southern California with nationwide reach. You will manage field teams, coordinate with clients and agencies, and oversee all aspects of paleontological investigations, reporting, and compliance with CEQA, PRPA, and related laws.

You will mentor junior staff, drive project scope and budgets, and contribute to career development within a collaborative work environment in the environmental consulting field.

Qualifications

• Graduate-level training in paleontology or related field.
• Experience with mitigation procedures and project management.
• Knowledge of CEQA/NEPA and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review paleo reports, CEQA/NEPA documents, and mitigation plans.
• Prepare cost proposals including budgets and scopes of work.
• Manage projects from kickoff to completion with client and agency coordination.
• Oversee mitigation measures, monitoring, and fossil collection projects.
• Plan field projects across the western US and supervise field crews.
• QA/QC of field data and coordination with land managers and clients.
• Support data analyses, literature research, and museum records.
• Assist with marketing and business development efforts.
• Ensure ethical practices and health and safety standards.
