Job summary

City of San José is seeking a Senior Painter to join the Facilities Division. Under general supervision, you will perform journey-level painting on City facilities, including surface preparation, drywall repairs, and application of finishes.

The role requires two years of painting experience, a valid California driver’s license, and physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Work shifts are Monday–Friday, 7:00am–3:30pm, with opportunities to contribute to safety and quality across City facilities.

Qualifications

• Two years of journey-level painting experience.

• Knowledge of paints, finishes, and finishing techniques.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate painters; review work and manage supplies.
• Prepare surfaces for painting using brushes, rollers, sprays.
• Select paints and finishes suitable for interior and exterior surfaces.
• Maintain and clean painting equipment; ensure safety practices.
