Job summary

Simms is seeking a Sr. Product Developer, Packs & Bags to lead design-to-production for premium packs and bags. You will translate concepts into production-ready products, balancing design intent with performance, quality, and cost targets.

Based in Bozeman, MT, you will coordinate cross-functional teams, manage BOMs, prototyping, and supplier collaborations to drive on-time launches and product excellence.

Qualifications

• Degree in Product Development, Industrial Design, or related field.
• 6–8+ years of product design and development experience.
• Strong knowledge of pack and bag construction, materials, components.
• Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Experience coordinating cross-functional teams and suppliers.
• Excellent problem-solving and time management.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute design and product development plans for packs and bags.
• Refine concepts, evaluate prototypes, and balance design with manufacturability.
• Create and maintain BOMs, specifications, material details, and construction requirements.
• Coordinate prototyping, sample reviews, and iterative design refinements.
• Identify and resolve design/manufacturing challenges early in development.
• Collaborate with factories and overseas teams on materials and cost negotiations.
• Review factory costing and BOMs, negotiate costs, and protect design integrity.
• Source fabrics, hardware, trims, and components meeting performance and cost targets.
• Manage development timelines from kickoff to pre-production approval.
• Communicate milestones and risks to cross-functional partners and manufacturers.
• Lead regular product reviews to gather feedback and drive improvements.
• Coordinate photo shoot samples and ensure marketing launch readiness.
• Collect and verify product weights and dimensions for collateral.
• Identify process improvements to increase efficiency and collaboration.

Education

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Product Development, Industrial Design, Apparel Design, or a related field
