Job summary

Ruiz Foods, a family-owned leader in packaged foods, is seeking a Packaging Engineer to join its team in Frisco, TX. You will support packaging programs across project management, operations and engineering, collaborating with cross-functional teams on new package designs and commercialization.

The role involves developing and maintaining product and raw material specifications, defining packaging elements, and driving productivity while maintaining quality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Packaging.
• 3–6 years in packaging engineering, preferably in food packaging.
• Knowledge of primary, secondary and tertiary packaging equipment.
• Experience with paperboard and corrugated materials used in food packaging.
• Understanding of ISTA/ASTM test methods.
• Willingness to travel up to 35%.

Responsibilities

• Support packaging programs across PM, operations, engineering and performance optimization.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams for new package design and commercialization.
• Develop and maintain product and raw material specifications, including BOMs.
• Define, develop and test packaging elements such as roll stock, cartons, trays, and pallet patterns.
• Drive productivity initiatives while maintaining product quality.
• Participate in all project phases from ideation to startup.
• Specify packaging materials that meet scope, time, and budget constraints.
• Provide guidance to plant operations and project managers on packaging projects.
• May serve as project manager on select projects.
